Australian Cup, Newmarket hopes spearhead weekend charge
Runners in two $1 million races, black-type assignments for Miss Darcey and Prima Nova and the return of a potential Doncaster Handicap chance will be highlights for the stable at the weekend.

At Flemington, in-form Road To Rock will contest the $1 million Australian Cup while Duporth lines up in a star-studded $1 million Newmarket Handicap field.

Road To Rock goes into the Australian Cup as a live chance after flourishing during his campaign.

The four-year-old has posted successive wins leading into the Group One race and is rated an $11 chance.

Duporth’s Newmarket Handicap odds seem luxurious, given his potential. Latest Newmarket betting has Duporth as a $31 chance.

Miss Darcey backs up for her third Melbourne run in as many weeks in the Group Two Kewney Stakes (1600m) after pleasing the stable since her Caulfield placing.

Prima Nova, with Duporth’s Newmarket jockey Nick Hall in the saddle, will take her place in the Schweppervescence Trophy (1400m).

In Sydney, Group One placegetter Solo Flyer makes a long-awaited return to racing in the St Patrick's Raceday 14 March Handicap (1200m).

Solo Flyer has been off the scene since finishing midfield in last year’s AJC Australian Derby and is on a Doncaster Handicap trail.
