Stable star breaks Newcastle record in Newmarket Handicap win
Solo Flyer was described as a “great advertisement for the stable” after continuing a successful comeback to racing in record breaking style at Newcastle.

The four-year-old registered his most important win in the $140,000 Showcase Jewellers Newmarket Handicap (1400m).

“It’s nice to see him back racing as strong as he is and that his attitude hasn’t waned in the meantime,” trainer Anthony Cummings said after the Group Three triumph.

“He’s a great advertisement for the stable.”

Solo Flyer is headed towards a start in the $2 million Doncaster Mile at Randwick on April 18.

But how he gets there remains unresolved.

“He’s had a couple of runs pretty quickly now after a long break and I’ll just have to sit down and see what program makes the most sense,” Cummings said.

Ridden By Corey Brown, Solo Flyer ($8.50) set a 1400m Broadmeadow record in winning by a half length.

He clocked 1:20.98, with the final 600 run in 34.31.
