Star three-year-old Duporth has returned from Melbourne in mint condition ahead of his assignment in the Group Two Phar Lap Stakes at Rosehill.
“It’s the best he has been this time in and it augers well for his chances,” trainer Anthony Cummings said.
Duporth has raced twice since a spell and Cummings is adamant the three-year-old should have figure in the placings at Group One level in Melbourne.
“In the Newmarket Handicap he got caught up in a traffic jam,” Cummings explained.
“From about the furlong-and-a-half he had no momentum at all.”
Duporth finished eighth in the Newmarket, beaten three-and-a-half lengths.
He wound up his Phar Lap preparation by working in even time at Randwick on Thursday morning.
