Trainer Anthony Cummings is confident – despite some distance reservations – history can repeat with Prima Nova at Rosehill.
Prima Nova returns to Sydney after a luckless Melbourne campaign and Cummings is after a similar result to the last time he transferred the mare between his stables.
“When I brought her up in the spring she won the Belle Of The Turf at Gosford so here’s hoping lightning strikes twice,” Cummings said.
Prima Nova runs in the Listed De Bortoli Wines Epona Stakes (1900m).
Her recent Melbourne form includes a fast-finishing fourth to subsequent Coolmore Classic winner Typhoon Tracy at Flemington on March 7
She was since just out of the placings at Group Three level at Flemington on March 14.
“She covered ground and I don’t think she’s that effective on wet tracks,” Cummings said.
“She handles a wet track but she’s better on top of the ground.
“The 1900 (metres) is as far as she wants to go but it’s within her reach. Her work continues to be good and all she needs is an ounce of luck somewhere.”
