Our stable will have four Group One runners on Golden Slipper day, including a two-pronged attack on the $2.25 million BMW (2400m).
Zavite, in the best form of his career, will be joined in the weight-for-age race by Road To Rock.
They completed the major part of their BMW preparations when they worked together on the course proper at Randwick on Tuesday.
Zavite has been kept fresh after a hectic summer/autumn campaign that included wins in the Australia Day Cup at Randwick, a narrow Hobart Cup defeat, an against-the-odds Launceston Cup victory and an Adelaide Cup triumph.
“Zavite’s main aim is the Sydney Cup but given his tremendous competitive nature I would expect him to run a forward race in the BMW,” trainer Anthony Cummings said.
“There is no way he will disgrace himself.”
Road To Rock also returns to Sydney racing after leaving his mark on the Melbourne autumn carnival.
Brad Rawiller takes over from his brother Nash on Zavite while Glen Boss will ride Road To Rock.
Offthepeg goes into the Group One Vinery Stud Stakes after winning a Newcastle maiden last Saturday.
“It’s not as big a step up as it seems because she is a promising stayer who will get better as the distances get longer,” Cummings said.
“This is the case on Saturday when she races over 2000 metres I think she will be even better over long and that’s why she’s heading towards the Oaks.”
Offthepeg, also a Brad Rawiller mount, will be joined in the fillies classic by Northern Dynasty (Chris Munce).
