Cat ready to purr in Queensland Oaks
Emerging filly Nothin’ Leica Cat will have to overcome a wide draw to win the Group I Queensland Oaks at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

A last-start Gold Coast winner against older horses, Nothin’ Leica Cat has drawn gate 17 in a field of 19.

On paper the draw appears to be a setback to her chances but she has the services of champion jockey Damien Oliver to navigate a winning course.

Nothin’ Leica Cat is in her first racing campaign but her condition can’t be faulted going into the $400,000 race.

“If anything, she has thrived in the stable,” stable foreman James Cummings said.

“She’s fit, well and she’ll be very hard to beat.”

In spite of the draw, Nothin’ Leica Cat remains high in Oaks betting charts as a $7 chance.

In Sydney, the stable will be represented in the feature race by Carnegie House.

Carnegie House will run in the $100,000 Listed WJ McKell Cup (2400m) at Rosehill.

The five-year-old rises in class on a last-start Canterbury placing but after four runs in from a spell, the stable is expecting a peak performance.

Jay Ford will take the ride.

Supernova (Peter Wells) and Rhodinite (Grant Buckley) are acceptors for the Grand Pavilion Handicap (1400m).
