Nothin' Leica Cat gallant in Oaks defeat
Nothin’ Leica Cat’s reputation as an emerging stayer continues to grow after her Queensland Oaks placing.

The three-year-old filly, who is in her maiden racing campaign, ran on stoutly in the straight to finish second in the Group I classic at Eagle Farm.

Nothin’ Leica Cat began her career on March 3 and was placed in the Adrian Knox Stakes at her fourth start before finishing on the heels of the placegetters in the AJC Australian Oaks.

She has thrived in Queensland and trainer Anthony Cummings said only the difference in barriers beat her on Saturday.

“Her run was outstanding for such an inexperienced filly,” Cummings said.

“The winner had the favours in the lead while Nothin’ Leica Cat was back in the ruck.

“I was really proud of the way took ground off the winner. Swap the barriers and the right could have easily been different.”

Nothin’ Leica Cat was a $150,000 yearling purchase from the 2007 Magic Millions sale.

She has almost repaid her purchase price despite her limited racetrack career.
