Recoup De Fortune emerged as a spring prospect with a dominant win at Randwick but first he will be given the chance to prove himself at the tailend of Brisbane’s winter carnival.
Trainer Anthony Cummings says he wants to road test Recoup De Fortune in the Listed Sunshine Coast Guineas later this month.
“He’s a pretty promising horse,” Cummings said. “[At Randwick] he’s just transferred what he has been doing at the trials to the racecourse.”
Recoup De Fortune began brilliantly to take up the running for jockey Corey Brown and was never seriously challenged in a 3-1/2 romp as a $2.80 favourite.
“If he pulls up ok I want to take him to Caloundra for the Sunshine Coast Guineas,” Cummings said.
“If he could win that it will push him up the order of entry in some of the better races in the spring and I want to have a shot at the Epsom with him.”
