All eyes on Seeking Attention at Rosehill
Randwick trainer Anthony Cummings says the in-form mare Seeking Attention can correct an injustice when she tackles the listed Sheraco Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Seeking Attention was denied a win at Rosehill on August 15 when the photo finish system failed and the judges awarded the race to Acquired when the bay mare looked to have at least dead-heated for first place.

The result cost Seeking Attention a fourth successive win but Cummings still believes the daughter of Exceed And Excel has earned her shot at black type status in the Sheraco Stakes.

A win at listed level would send Seeking Attention’s value as a broodmare through the roof and Cummings believes the four-year-old is weighted well enough with 53kg to have a chance of taking out the Sheraco Stakes.

“She’s entitled to her chance in the race,” Cummings said. “She drops down in weight which will make her super competitive and she also has a fitness advantage on a few of them.

“She puts herself into the right part of the race all the time and I think she’s the one to beat.”

Cummings will give Recoup De Fortune a chance to atone for an ordinary first-up run in the Rosehill Gardens Events Centre Handicap over 1500 metres.

Dealer Principal’s half-brother was beaten into third place behind Syreon and Madibagold on the Kensington track on August 19 but Cummings said the form out of the race has been good.

“I thought Recoup De Fortune was slightly disappointing first-up,” Cummings said. “But the horse that beat him for second won impressively at Canterbury by three lengths on Wednesday.

“I think he can reclaim some of his tarnished reputation on Saturday.”
