The classy filly Lovemelikearock will spearhead a strong assault on Saturday’s Randwick meeting from the Anthony Cummings stable when she steps out in the Group II Sydney City Toyota Furious Stakes (1400m)
The Cummings stable with hit the Randwick meeting full of running after Fool’s Ride made it three winners for the week for the team after breaking his maiden at Wyong on Friday.
Lovemelikearock was a dominant last-start winner on the Kensington track on against the older mares on August 19 but Cummings’ son and stable foreman Edward believes the daughter of Fastnet Rock can take her good form over to the s Randwick course proper.
“She loves the 1400 metres and I’m sure she’ll be able to get out over further after Saturday,” Edward Cummings told Racenet TV. “Her work has been good and while she does jump up in class, there is no reason she won’t be competitive.”
The stable will also be represented by Pearl Of The Sea in the Furious Stakes and Cummings junior was equally positive about the filly’s chances in the Group II event.
“Last time out she was caught wide and ran on strongly,” he said. “She showed she had the gears and the stamina and she’ll run well on Saturday.”
Road To Rock will resume in the final event of the day, the Group III Tramway Stakes over 1400 metres and Cummings said the son of Rock Of Gibraltar is ready to race up to his full potential.
“He’s a much more professional racehorse now,” he said. “We’ll see a horse who will carry on towards the Epsom which is his main goal and he’ll go from strength to strength this preparation.”
The Cummings team is also expecting a big improvement from the Group I-placed mare Galileo’s Daughter who will make her return to Sydney racing after having no luck in Melbourne in the Sharp Handicap, a Rating 86 race over 2400 metres.
“Just wipe the run she had at Moonee Valley,” Cummings said. “The track there was very firm and she felt it in her joints. She’s come back to Sydney and worked really well on the softer tracks here. We’re expecting a big run from her.”
The Adelaide Cup winner Zavite continues his Melbourne Cup preparation in the Group II Chelmsford Stakes while the high class mares Miss Darcey and Nothin’ Leica Cat are also expected to run well at Randwick.
