Fortune set to Recoup losses at Rosehill
The Anthony Cummings stable has suggested punters retain their faith in lightly-raced galloper Recoup De Fortune when he steps out in the Grand Pavilion Handicap at Rosehill.

Recoup De Fortune has had two runs back from a spell, for a third at Kensington and a fifth in 0-86 grade at Rosehill on August 29 but stable foreman Edward Cummings has been far from disappointed with the four-year-old’s efforts.

“He did well last start but he probably over-raced a bit which cost him,” Cummings said. “But before that he was a little bit shy racing among other horses.

“We’re not necessarily disappointed with the runs. He’s finding his feet in racing and every race provides an opportunity for him to learn about racing and for us to learn about him.”

Cummings has no doubts about the half-brother to Dealer Principal’s ability, labelling him a “potential star.”

Meanwhile, the gallant mare Seeking Attention will be given another chance to gain a black-type win in the Group III Research Stakes over 1200 metres.

Seeking Attention ran a terrific race when second to Madame Pedrille in the Sheraco Quality at Rosehill on August 29 and Cummings believes the daughter of Exceed And Excel has improved since the run.

“She’s a horse with a big heart who just keeps eating up and working really well and gives us the impression she’ll be improved in the Research Stakes,” he said.

“Every time we send her around, she’s getting better and better. She’s certainly improving and good enough to run well in this race.”
