The Anthony Cummings-trained Sister Madly will be out to match her illustrious half-brother by recording a Group I success when she runs in Wednesday’s Thousand Guineas at Caulfield.
Sister Madly is a half-sister to the Hong Kong champion Silent Witness, a nine-time Group I winner in his homeland and Japan over short courses.
Cummings will attempt to secure his third Group I win of the season with the daughter of Redoute’s Choice.
He said Sister Madly’s last start second in the Group I Flight Stakes holds her in good stead for the Thousand Guineas.
“Her last start at Randwick showed us she would have no trouble with the mile,” Cummings said.
The Flight Stakes was Sister Madly’s second successive runner-up finish after the filly was placed behind Little Surfer Girl in the Listed Reginald Allen Stakes on September 26.
"She was ridden too aggressively in the Reginald Allen Stakes," Cummings said. "Then she almost fell when running home well in the Flight Stakes, she's definitely good enough to win a Thousand Guineas."
Despite the Thousand Guineas being Sister Madly’s third run in 17 days, Cummings said the three-year-old has thrived on the recent racing.
“She has definitely thrived on the recent racing,” Cummings said. “She’s developing really well both physically and mentally and the trip to Melbourne hasn’t worried her.
“She’s done really well and been working nicely since coming down to Melbourne and we’re expecting her to run another bold race on Wednesday.”
Blake Shinn will stick with Sister Madly in the Thousand Guineas. The filly will jump from barrier two.
