Tallow Gold Coast-bound after Randwick win
Trainer Anthony Cummings will send the promising three-year-old Tallow to the Gold Coast to run in the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Trophy after Saturday’s win at Randwick.

Tallow was struggling to earn enough prizemoney to guarantee her a start in the lucrative race but sealed a place in the January 9 feature by earning $42,000 for her win in the Inglis Bonus 3YO Handicap (1400m).

Jockey Kerrin McEvoy gave the daughter of Street Cry a sweet run for most of race before being forced to ride Tallow hard to the line to record a head win over Triple Elegance.

Cummings said the 1400 metres of the Randwick race was too short for Tallow but the win proved the filly can overcome unsuitable distances to race at her best.

"I've got a big opinion of her, she was stakes-placed at her second start and they don't do that by mistake,” Cummings said.

“I think when she gets to a mile and a quarter she’ll be up to serious group standard. Either Group I or Group II level.

“She’ll head to the Gold Coast now but the trick will be to keep her fresh enough for another run at seven furlongs in the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy.”

Tallow is owned by Magic Millions co-proprietor John Singleton and cost $30,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions sale.

“I think she was the cheapest horse Singo bought that year,” Cummings said. “Horses have no respect for money anyway.”
