| Dealer Principal back at trials |

Randwick trainer Anthony Cummings was all smiles after the 2008 Rosehill Guineas winner Dealer Principal took his first major step towards a racetrack return with a strong trial performance.
Dealer Principal hasn’t raced in over 13 months after fracturing a bone at the back of his during in a freak training accident in November last year.
“He got a bit bumble-footed one day doing some slow work at Randwick on his way from the Emirates to the Canberra Cup and he cracked the bone,” Cummings said.
Cummings said the injury was rare and a return to top form is not guaranteed but Dealer Principal showed he has a chance of returning to top level racing with his effort in a 900-metre trial at Rosehill.
Dealer Principal jumped smartly to trail the speed before quickening under his own steam to be narrowly beaten in his heat but Cummings was thrilled with the gelding’s performance.
“He was quick out of the gates and basically cruised around on the bit and wasn’t far off at the finish,’ he said.
“He had a nice clean blow [after the trial] and will be much improved by it, that was his first outing for over 12-months so I’m very pleased.”
Cummings said Dealer Principal would resume racing in early January with the trainer hoping a Doncaster Mile start would be possible for the five-year-old.
“It depends on what sort of discount there is to his true ability,” he said.
“If there’s none he could turn up in a Doncaster but it may even finish up being something less than that.”
